John Dent R.I.P

John Dent of LOUD Mastering sadly passed away on 29th December 2017. He was one of the top mastering engineers of his generation and the worthy recipient of the 2014 MPG Mastering Engineer Of The Year Award.

John’s funeral, followed by a wake, will be held at 12:30 pm in Taunton, Somerset on Monday, January 15th.

John was exceptionally talented, with an endless enthusiasm for music and engineering, a man with vision and a deep understanding of life and his profession. He started his career at age 16 and carried it through for the rest of his life, inspiring many musicians along the way. John founded LOUD Mastering in 1995 and the studio legacy lives on with Jason Mitchell at the helm.

John started his career at Trident Studios in 1973, training under Ray Staff and Howard Thompson in cutting vinyl. He quickly developed his own clients and cut many ‘Punk’ era records, including releases for The Police, The Stranglers and Bob Marley & The Wailers.
