It takes a special sort of producer to produce a folk album that makes ‘best of year’ lists, charts outside of its genre in the UK, charts in Folk Charts on both sides of the Atlantic AND the artist is your 85 year old mother. Calum MacColl has superb technical skills in the studio, a creative mind and a huge amount of tact, diplomacy, empathy and patience. Reviews have noted the beautifully sparse production, the sense of intimacy and that Peggy Seeger’s voice shows little sign of ageing. Calum also co-wrote 2 of the tracks and played guitar on 7 of them. ‘Calum’s high production values tease out the deep ambiance of the material and present a warm and rounded, homely collection of the most personal of songs.’ Living Tradition Magazine. ‘A delightful pot of organically fresh ingredients stirred into an unfussy and very tasty casserole. Her voice certainly shows no signs of age-related deterioration and the picking acoustic guitar sparkles throughout.’ Tom Robinson, Fresh on the Net.
