Kempston Street Studios will celebrate this years National Album Day by focusing on this week’s official charts number one album – ‘Gary’ by Blossoms.
On 19th October 2024, as part of National Album Day, Kempston Street will open its doors to the public between 2pm and 5pm and allow access to the behind-the-scenes-making of this album.
The album continues a long-standing relationship between Blossoms and the team behind Kempston Street Studios (formerly Parr Street Studios) in Liverpool. All three directors of of the studio (James Skelly, Richard Turvey and Chris Taylor) have been instrumental in Blossoms meteoric rise to success – and collectively they are responsible for all of Blossoms recorded output to date. The latest album – Gary – was recorded in Kempston Street Studio 1 in the early part of the 2024 and released on 20th September 2024. It was officially recognised as the top selling album of the week by the official charts company on 27th September 2024. The third single from the album – Perfect Me – is currently sitting on both the Radio 2 A-list and Radio 1 B-list.
On 19th October, Kempston Street will open its doors to allow the public access to see how this record was made. The event will be hosted by Chris Taylor who recorded and engineered this album. He will be playing isolated parts of the multitrack to reveal the individual instruments involved in putting the record together and will share some anecdotes about the processes. There will then be an opportunity to hear the songs from the album played back in Dolby Atmos in their Atmos-equipped mix room.
