MPG & ICMP launch new Music Production Scholarship

DEADLINE EXTENDED UNTIL 5pm 28th AUGUST

Leading London music school, ICMP (The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance), alongside music industry partner The Music Producers Guild (MPG), is delighted to offer an outstanding opportunity for a talented student to develop their skills and potential through its new Music Production scholarship.

The initiative has been created for anyone passionate about music production, but who might not normally be able to consider Higher Education as part of their career development.

The recipient will be given the opportunity to study on ICMP’s one-year Cert HE Creative Music Production course without having to pay the tuition fees. This course provides students with a fantastic opportunity to immerse themselves in live, studio and digital music settings utilising the latest industry-standard equipment and computer software. Not only will you learn in ICMP’s high-tech Mac Labs, 24-track studios and dedicated teaching spaces, but you will study how to use industry-standard software including ProTools, Logic and Ableton.

The course is designed to be flexible – allowing for adjustments based on the ever-changing demands of the industry. It also enables progression to the highly practical BA (Hons) Creative Music Production course, a programme aimed at supporting aspiring music industry professionals to develop their skills and launch successful industry careers.

Creating opportunities through partnership

ICMP and MPG share common values. The organisations both support dedicated individuals from any background to launch brilliant music careers. The MPG was originally conceived and supported by producers, mixers, recording engineers, re-mixers and programmers passionate about all aspects of the music-making process. It is a not-for-profit company and run by volunteers from the membership. High profile members include Brian Eno, Mark Ronson, Nile Rodgers and many other industry legends.

Cameron Craig, MPG Executive Director, believes it’s crucial for the industry to invest in the next generation of talent: “The MPG is proud to be a part of this initiative to help emerging talent and increase diversity in the production community by supporting talent that otherwise might not get a chance”

James Rees, ICMP’s Creative Music Production Programme Leader, said the Cert HE is a great introduction to the realities of the industry: “Our Cert HE Creative Music Production course is a brilliant way into the recording business, offering you the chance to learn from our talented tutors and hone your musical skills using our state-of-the-art studios and gear. There’s no better grounding for a successful career in music production and we can’t wait to receive your applications for the scholarship.”

Paul Kirkham, ICMP’s Chief Executive is just as enthusiastic about the unique scholarship: “We are delighted to partner with the MPG to provide this golden opportunity for a motivated and talented individual who has a passion for music production but perhaps hasn’t quite known where to start. Their career in the music industry awaits… and we look forward to working with them in the future.”
