Meet the new additions to our Board of Directors.

Following a lengthy consultation period and ratification from the membership we have decided to make three appointments all of whom bring considerable expertise from different sectors of the recording industry.

We are confident that establishing such a skilled and varied board will both expand our membership base as well reinforce the MPG’s commitment to promoting the interests of those employed in all areas of the music business.

Securing the services of such outstanding candidates has been an exhaustive process though, as members will doubtless appreciate, it was essential we selected individuals who not only bring skills and insight to the MPG, but also the ability to commit to what is a highly demanding and time consuming role.

They now replace Eve Horne and Mika Sellens whom we warmly thank for their contributions over the past two years.

Anu Pillai is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and DJ who has provided advertising music for leading brands such as Apple and Nokia as well as working with Lewis Capaldi and Natalie Imbruglia.

Anu says: ‘I’m delighted to be elected as a director of the MPG and continue the excellent work of the directors who are stepping down, Eve and Mika. I’m looking forward to hitting the ground running; advocating for producers rights wherever necessary and expanding our membership base as much as possible.

Emma Townsend has been manager of Rak Studios since 2021. Before that, she was Head of Studios at Metropolis and has also worked at Strongroom.

Emma said: ‘I’m honoured to be invited to be an Executive Director on the board of the Music Producers Guild. I’d be very keen to be involved in the Safer Studios initiative which has been in the pipeline for some time. I’m keen to put practices in place to protect studio workers and ingrain staff welfare policies into the industry. From protection from harassment to moving towards a better work/life balance for all studio workers. I know, for the most part, the industry is beginning to move past the ‘survival of the fittest’ mentality of former years, but I do believe there is much more to be done to promote welfare within our studios and I’d like to be a part of advancing that positive change.’

Natalie Bibby recently moved to be a mastering engineer at AIR Studios. She previously held the same position at Metropolis and has worked with artists such as Lewis Capaldi and The Vaccines.

Natalie said: “I am honoured to be elected as an Executive Director of the Music Producers Guild. I’m excited about representing the diverse needs of our audio production community. I will be prioritising my focus, advocating for those from poorer and disadvantaged backgrounds. I will do this by looking into how can we can improve and equalise the audio production industry, right down to sixth form and university level. Additionally, I would like to raise awareness of accessibility within audio production workspaces and get us all thinking about how we can improve this for clients and budding engineers.”

We congratulate all three on their appointments and trust you will join us in welcoming them aboard.
