Success for the 1st MPG East Midlands Speakeasy event!

BroadwayOrganised by recording, mixing and mastering engineer, and MPG Full Member, JP Braddock, the first East Midlands Speakeasy event, held at The Broadway in Nottingham, thoroughly demonstrated the clear potential popularity of such events outside of London, and validated recent efforts by MPG admin to extend the reach of the MPG beyond the traditional geographical limits of London and the Home Counties.

It was extremely gratifying to witness the enthusiastic support demonstrated by those who attended the Speakeasy, and who represent the range of activities within music production in the surrounding areas. These included music/audio engineering, production, and composition within various genres, including classical, solo artists and bands performing contemporary popular music, electronica, production music and film and TV soundtracks.

The Speakeasy looks likely to become a regular event in the East Midlands area, and hopefully the start of a series of varied events to highlight and promote the interests of music productiuon professionals.

As you may know, the MPG is run by volunteers, who are all working professionals like you. We are conscious that the MPG is occasionally perceived as, and is in fact, quite London-centric. However, we are very keen to develop regional MPG “communities” to represent and support those who are working in music production throughout the UK.

In order to become successful, this initiative will depend on the enthusiasm of people “on the ground”. So, if you are interested in developing these ideas, and can spare a bit of time and energy to help get things off the ground in your area, please get in touch:
