Having worked as a professional mastering engineer for the past 19 years (and a full MPG member) this is my first time making an awards submission. I work predominantly with electronic music genres and it would be fantastic to see this very popular area of the music industry receive some much-deserved recognition. The album that I’m submitting is by the international electronic Violinist Catalin DeVille, her style is an exhilarating fusion of electronic music and classical strings which made it a unique and exciting project to work with. The challenge here was to create consistency across the whole album in which the violinist remained centre stage amongst varying degrees of densely arranged electronic dance music. The complexities involved in making this work tested every skill I have acquired as a Mastering Engineer and is why I feel it’s one of the standout projects from a year of amazing music.
