Mike Horner

Testimonials

We had the pleasure of meeting and working with Mike last year during the recording of our debut album. Through this time of great excitement, high emotions and a lot of nerves, we found Mike to be such an important and integral part of our team. He helped bring our songs to life in ways we thought we could not achieve – with such precision, attention to detail and energy, but most importantly, in the way he made us feel as musicians and artists. The space Mike helped to create in the studio was so safe and freeing which allowed us to be vulnerable and powerful. He explored and encouraged every idea we had and was always 100% present with us. When we listen back to the records we made, we hear our very best vocal takes – full of confidence, emotion and truth – and this is testament to Mike. For us, this is what makes Mike one of the best and most trusting engineer’s we’ve worked with and we feel so lucky to have met him. – Meg and Lily from IDER

Mike was wonderful to work with. In particular he helped guide me to get the best vocal takes, with his experience, his comfortable manner and his expertise as a recording engineer. It can be a difficult job, as musicians and singers can become tired and lose their way during multiple takes, but Mike was always able to retain a friendly but professional attitude during sessions, and made great judgements whilst comping takes too. He wanted the best for us, and intuitively knew how to help achieve it. Quite the skill! – Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip)

‘Mike was an integral part of the making of our latest album ‘A Bathfull of Ecstasy’. He was extremely talented in all areas of his job; he mixed, engineered and edited flawlessly as we were making the songs, he made great creative suggestions, worked effortlessly with two different producers with very different styles, and quickly became our friend. We trusted him with all aspects of our music-making and would work with him again in a heartbeat. – Joe Goddard (Hot Chip)
