Hannah Peel: ‘The Deceived (Original Television Soundtrack)’

Testimonials

Hannah Peel was commissioned to write the music score for Channel 5’s new 4-part psychological thriller ‘The Deceived’. Written by Lisa McGee (Derry Girls, Being Human) and her partner Tobias Beer, the show aired on Channel 5, 3rd August 2020 to 2 million viewers, the highest amount for a Channel 5 drama since 2017. I am entering Hannah for her exceptional music production and ability to create a deep, dark psychological world. Her brief was to composer a contemporary take on classic thriller soundtracks like ‘Rebecca’ and ‘Dial M for Murder’ Her final broadcast soundtrack included 90 cues of music, reaching 2 hours in length – written, recorded and produced by her in 12 weeks, during the winter of early 2020. What makes this score unique to me, is HannahÕs ability to amalgamate beautifully the use of her wide-ranging on set field recordings with the classical scoring. As one terrified viewer on Gogglebox Ireland screamed, ‘No fecking need for that music!’ See supporting links
